How it Works?
1 - Schedule a Consultation
Send an email and we can set up a mutually convenient time to talk. Before we meet in person, we will agree upon fee based on items and purpose of your appraisal needs. We are then ready to meet in my Boston or Southern Maine location. I am available 7 days a week by appointment.
2 - What to bring
In addition to the items you need appraised, plan to bring any paperwork about your items including GIA (or other lab) reports, previous appraisals, sales receipts and also family photos that might help date period pieces. For watches bring warranty cards, sales receipts, boxes along with any extra links for bracelet.
3 - The Appointment
You do not need to leave your items. We will identify, determine quality and authenticity, weigh, measure and photograph while you watch. Within one week we will provide a comprehensive report and appropriate value based on thorough research.
4- The Appraisal Report
Your report will be sent to you electronically in a PDF format that can then be forwarded to your insurance company. We will maintain a secure copy of your report for at least 5 years.
5 - Payment
Upon your receipt of appraisal report we will ask you to submit payment in the form of check, cash, Venmo or Zelle.
Fee Structure
As an independent jewelry appraiser, we never charge by a percentage of appraised value. We do not buy or sell jewelry so there is never a conflict of interest or biased outcome in any way.
Fees will vary depending on the complexity and amount of time necessary to fully research and document unique items. All fees will be established and agreed upon before appraisal is performed.
Most Standard Insurance Appraisals will be billed at $175 for first item and $100 for each additional item.
All other appraisal fees will be determined based on the amount of time determined to be needed to fully identify, research and provide a comprehensive report on your precious items at an hourly rate of $200 per hour.
